Highlights from Paris Fashion Week: Loewe, Valentino and Alexander McQueen
Alexander McQueen
Sarah Burton continues to create impressive collections for the iconic British brand Alexander McQueen. Fall/Winter collection is full of leather clothing, suits, black and white colors with red flashes, unusual cuts and silhouettes with fitted waist. The designer interpreted the double-breasted jacket in the form of an asymmetric dress, tank top, corset, and also offered luxurious coats and voluminous leather trench coats. Some of the dresses looked like reconstructed leather jackets. The looks are finished with massive earrings, rings and necklaces in the flower shapes. The show ended up with models wearing impressive evening outfits.
Loewe
To create a new collection for the Loewe brand, designer Jonathan Anderson combined modern technologies with his rich imagination. Comfortable everyday clothing was decorated with various elements with the effect of illusion. T-shirt dresses, coats and tops over-printed with blurry images represented the way we see clothes online. "The blurry aspect in motion looks like a glitch," says the designer. - It’s out of focus. Is it staged, or not staged? Is it the right color, is it photoshopped?”.
It is Anderson's rich imagination and creativity that helps create unique and impressive collections for the historic Spanish brand. The new season features a lot of leather clothing, various styles of shoes with Loewe's signature unique design, silk dresses (which also had the effect of a light wrap on the screen, but in reality are made of stiff fabric), as well as updated versions of bags, including huge geometric leather shoppers.
Valentino
After Pierpaolo Piccioli's teenage daughter borrowed his suit, white shirt and tie to create her party look, the designer reinterpreted the classic ensemble, which became the main idea for Valentino's 'Black Tie' Fall/Winter collection. A white collar and tie complemented suits with jackets, micro-shorts and skirts, gowns and cocktail dresses with corsets. It somehow resembled the combination of office suits combined with evening outfits. The designer generously decorated clothing and shoes with feathers to create a more elegant look. Oversized jackets with barely noticeable micro-shorts and skirts looked very sharp. Short boots with feathers and tight leather high boots finished the outfits perfectly.
The collection was mostly in black and white colors with Valentino's iconic red. Elongated versions of classic bags have refreshed the look of accessories. The show was completed by luxurious dresses with sequins and gowns in literally black tie style - complemented by a black tie and a white shirt.
